Telethon raises over £19,000 for The Nicky

The Nicky Alliance Centre’s 17th annual Telethon has raised over £19,000 for the charity which provides a daytime social club for senior members of the Manchester Jewish community.

The event took place for the third year running at the offices of Brown Shipley in Spinningfields, Manchester. Throughout the day the phones were manned by executive members of the council of Manchester Jewish Community Care, the Nicky’s parent organisation, and other volunteers who were joined by members of King David High School’s Yavneh boys.

Shelley Blackston, Fundraising Executive at The Nicky said: “The Telethon was an outstanding event. We’ve never had so many volunteers on any one day helping to raise much needed funds for The Nicky.

“We’ve raised over £19,000 so far and we’re still counting. There will be two more mini-Telethons over the next few weeks so we are optimistic that the figure will increase significantly.”
